Grasshopper chips or crispy worms, all approved in Singapore
Singapore, Agency. In Singapore, you will be able to taste dishes made from crickets and grasshoppers like crisps and chips. Singapore’s food watchdog (SFA) approved it on Monday. There are a total of 16 species including crickets and grasshoppers.
This is good news for the industries preparing to supply and cater to insects raised in Vietnam, China and Thailand in Singapore. The approved insects include various species of crickets, grasshoppers, silkworms, mealworms etc.

The insects that have not found a place in the SFA list will be assessed. It will be ensured whether they are safe for human health or not.
