In IRCTC, NOSB stands for No Seat Berth; in other words, it means no seat for half fare. In general, if you happen to book a ticket for your children aged between 5-12 years, they can board the train, but cannot occupy the seat. You have to pay the full amount irrespective of the age to get the confirmed berth/seat. In case, if you happen to book a ticket using the NOSB booking, you would be charged only half of the total ticket fare (similar to adults). You can find two statuses of NOSB when you are booking for children aged between 5 and 11 years old.

NOSB = No Seat Berth (If Child Age Less Than 11 And Opted For ½ Ticket (for Half Fare))
NOSB, 0 = Means allowed for the journey without a seat.

If you want a confirm berth, then you have to pay full fare for even the child aged between 5 and 11 years old. As per the revised children’s concession rules from 1st April 2016, the full adult fare would be levied for children aged between 5 to 12 years if they seek a berth/seat in the reserved class. In case of non-requirement of berth/seat, then they would be charged about half the price of adult fare.
