जब देव माता अदिति ने सूर्य को पुत्र रूप में जन्म दिया
मार्कडेय पुराण के अनुसार पहले संपूर्ण विश्व में अंधेरा था। उस अंधकार में ही ब्रह्मा कमलयोनि से प्रकट हुए और उनके मुख से सबसे पहले ‘ओम्’ शब्द का उच्चारण हुआ। यह ओम् सूर्य के तेज का ही सूक्ष्म रूप था। इसके पश्चात ब्रह्मा के मुख से चारों वेद प्रकट हुए। यह चारों वेद ओम् के तेज में समा गए। आकाश में दिखाई देने वाला सूर्य इसी ओम् का स्थूल रूप है। लेकिन सूर्य का यह तेज इतना प्रचंड था कि सृष्टि के भस्म होने का डर था, इसलिए ब्रह्म की प्रार्थना पर सूर्य देव ने अपने तेज को कम कर लिया। सूर्य के प्रकट होने पर संपूर्ण विश्व का अंधकार ही नहीं मिटा बल्कि सृष्टि में जीवन का संचार भी हुआ। ज्योतिष में सूर्य को आत्मा का कारक और नव ग्रहों का राजा माना गया है। व्यवस्था के संचालन में इसे राजा यानी राष्ट्र प्रमुख और उच्च अधिकारी तथा संबंधों के निर्वहन में इसे पिता माना गया है।
According to Markadeya Purana, earlier there was darkness in the entire world. It was in that darkness that Brahma appeared from the lotus flower and the word ‘Om’ was first uttered from his mouth. This Om was a subtle form of the sun’s glory. After this the four Vedas appeared from the mouth of Brahma. These four Vedas got absorbed in the glory of Om. The sun visible in the sky is the physical form of this Om. But the brightness of the Sun was so intense that there was a fear of the creation being destroyed, hence on the prayer of Brahma, the Sun God reduced his brightness. With the appearance of the Sun, not only the darkness of the entire world was removed but life was also infused into the universe. In astrology, Sun is considered to be the factor of soul and the king of nine planets. In running the system, he is considered as the king i.e. the head of the nation and a high official and in the discharge of relations, he is considered as the father.
